The Cake

I love food...who doesn't! There are really very few things I will not eat. Included in this list is liver and onions (yuck!). Tres Leches cake was also on the list. I always felt it was a textural nightmare. It reminded me of birthdays past when it came time to eat cake and ice cream. When you were done, all that was left on the plate was a mess of melted ice cream and cake crumbs that had turned gritty. Gross right?!

Well that was this cake...until now. I spotted the recipe on a blog post from the wonderful Ree Drummond ( aka: The Pioneer Woman)

My husband has begged me for this cake and I always protested in disgust. When I read Ree's recipe I felt she had maybe given this cake and I some chance of making amends.

Today was a special day. Our one year wedding anniversary. So I lovingly made this cake. I let it chill in the fridge so it was a cool sweet treat and we ate it for dessert after dinner.

Let me just say that I am a changed woman and my husband had to rip the fork from my hand and take away the dish the cake was made in. That was only because I had finished the piece served to me and moved right to the source.

Here is a side shot of the cake so you can see how decadent and simple it is

Here is a link for those of you who want to make it

Fall is Surely on it's way

This is my first post. One in a long line of many. This view and this place we now call our home is why I am here to share our life and our story. I am amazed every day by something unexpected. I could never have had a view like this in the city...and now that I have it, I most certainly don't want to keep it all to my self. Cuz what is the fun in that!
